1. Parties to the Agreement
The following terms and conditions apply to all subscription agreements entered into with Musiikkikoulu Säveltie Oy. The contracting party in these agreements is always considered to be the actual payer of the subscription, even if someone else participates in the lessons and uses the services. The payer is responsible for ensuring that the participant (hereinafter referred to as the student/participant) also agrees to the terms and conditions below, to the extent that they apply to them.

2.4. Music Playschool (Muskari)
Music education for young children, where instruction occurs in groups through play and song. Some classes are designed for both children and their caregivers. Groups are organized by age, and the upper age limit for participation in these music classes is 6 years old. Students older than this age cannot continue in the music playschool but can join other individual, pair, or group lessons offered by Musiikkikoulu Säveltie. Music playschool includes 14 sessions per semester.

2.7. Other Possible Classes
We can also offer other types of instruction as separately specified, with terms provided alongside the offer.
3. Price and Payment Terms:
The price of the offered service is stated in the Our classes section of our website, as well as in the order form. The prices displayed on the order form are valid from the time of service order until the end of the semester.
When ordering the service, the subscriber can choose a payment schedule that suits them. The schedules are:
- One-time payment
- Two installments
- Monthly payment
Regardless of the chosen payment schedule, the subscriber agrees to pay the full season fee for the duration of the semester according to the agreed-upon payment schedule.
Musiikkikoulu Säveltie will send an invoice to the subscriber via email, with a due date of 14 days from the date of invoice. If the invoice is not paid by the due date, we reserve the right to suspend lessons for the student associated with the unpaid invoice. We will send a payment reminder for overdue invoices, adding a reminder fee of €5 to the total amount. If payment is still not made after the reminder, the invoice will be transferred to the debt collection.
4. Schedules:
The schedules for the offered services, including lesson times and dates, are established as follows:
4.1. Private lessons
Each student's personal music teacher or alternatively another representative of Musiikkikoulu Säveltie will arrange a regular lesson time for the student with the student or, alternatively, their guardian for the semester. The scheduling can occur at any time between registration and the start of lessons. Times are typically allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
When scheduling, consideration is given to other ongoing music lessons at Musiikkikoulu Säveltie, as well as, where possible, the student's own scheduling preferences.
Private lessons are typically held weekly, but at the beginning of the semester, it is possible to agree with the teacher on potential breaks, such as during the autumn and winter holidays.
For individual lesson rescheduling and cancellations, refer to section 7.
4.2. Pair lessons
The scheduling of pair lessons is carried out in the same manner as individual lessons, with agreements made at the beginning of the semester with the teacher.
4.3. Group Lessons
The schedule for group lessons for the semester is available at the time of registration. By registering, the subscriber or the person they designate agrees to the times for lessons as specified by Musiikkikoulu Säveltie.
Any illness-related or other absences will not be credited towards the season's fee
4.4. Music Playschool (Muskari)
The schedule for music playschool lessons for the semester is available at the time of registration. Participation is subject to the same conditions as participating in group lessons (Section 4.3).
4.5. Intensive Courses
The schedule for intensive courses for the semester is available at the time of registration. Participation is subject to the same conditions as participating in group lessons (Section 4.3).
4.6. Trial Bundles
Participation is subject to the same conditions as participating in individual lessons (Section 4.1).
The right to make schedule changes as needed is reserved for all aforementioned categories.
5. Duration of the Agreement
The subscription agreement between Musiikkikoulu Säveltie and the subscriber is valid indefinitely. This means that for private lessons, pair lessons, group lessons, and music playschool, the student's enrollment automatically transfers from the autumn semester to the spring semester, and from the spring semester to the autumn semester after the summer break, unless the agreement is terminated according to our cancellation terms (see section 6).
If there are any impediments for Musiikkikoulu Säveltie to continue the agreement, we aim to notify as early as possible, but no later than the end of the current semester.
For intensive courses and trial bundles, the agreement is not ongoing but rather a fixed-term agreement for the duration of the course between Musiikkikoulu Säveltie and the payer.
6. Cancellation Terms
Termination of the agreement must be made at least four (4) weeks before the start of each semester. Termination of the agreement should be sent via email to toimisto@saveltie.fi. A verbal notification, for example to your instrument teacher, is not considered a valid termination notice.
If the agreement is canceled less than four weeks before the start of the semester's instruction but before classes commence, half of the semester's fee will be charged.
If the agreement is canceled after the semester has started or during the semester, the full semester's subscription fee will be charged, and unused lessons will not be refunded.
Late cancellations due to prolonged or serious illness or accidents can be handled on a case-by-case basis.
7. Responsibilities and obligations regarding absences
Regarding individual absences during the semester, the responsibilities and obligations are as follows:
7.1 Student's absence in private and pair lessons, as well as trial bundles
If a student notifies their upcoming absence at least one week in advance, the teacher is obligated to offer one or more of the following alternative options for scheduling an individual or pair lesson:
- Online lesson via video call, if the participant's location and health allow it during the regular lesson time.
- Rescheduling the lesson to another time, which can be its regular time on a different week, or any other mutually agreeable time for both parties, and for pair lessons, a suitable time for all three participants during the current semester.
If neither of the previous options is feasible, meaning the lesson cannot be rescheduled in any way during the current semester, the subscriber will be credited the calculated price of one lesson from the semester fee. The maximum number of lessons eligible for monetary reimbursement in a semester is two (2).
Notification of absence less than a week before does not qualify for reimbursement of the semester fee nor obligate the teacher to find a replacement time for the lesson. However, if desired by the participant, the lesson can still be conducted online via video call at the regular lesson time, for example, if the participant is only mildly ill.
7.2. Absence of a student/participant in group lessons, music playschool, and intensive courses
In the aforementioned categories, the participant's absence does not entitle to reimbursement of the seasonal fee, nor does it require seeking a replacement time regardless of the timing of the absence notification.
However, if it is beneficial for the instruction and upon the absentee's request, they may attend another equivalent group session instead of their own.
This is possible if multiple sessions of the same group are offered in the course schedule.
The need for this arrangement is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and the participant must notify in advance if they wish to do so.
7.3. Teacher absence in private and pair lessons, group lessons, music playschools, intensive courses, and trial bundles.
When a teacher is unable to attend a lesson, they are obligated to promptly notify the affected parties as soon as they become aware of the issue. In such cases, the teacher is responsible for taking the following actions as they deem most appropriate:
- Arranging a substitute to conduct the lesson at its regular time. Substitutes employed by Musiikkikoulu Säveltie are staff members of the school or otherwise deemed reliable and competent.
- If it's not possible to arrange a substitute, the teacher will try to find an alternative time for the lesson that suits all participants and doesn't cause undue inconvenience to either party. This alternative time must be scheduled within the current semester.
- If, despite the above efforts, the lesson cannot be held, the participants will be compensated with the proportional amount of the lesson's cost deducted from the semester fee.
In cases of so-called force majeure events, which refer to unforeseen circumstances beyond control, specific conditions outlined in section 8 will apply.
8. Force Majeure
Lessons missed due to force majeure events will not be replaced or refunded from the semester fees. Force majeure refers to reasons beyond the service provider's control, unforeseeable at the time of contract formation, which prevent the provision of teaching. Such reasons include, but are not limited to, governmental actions, natural disasters, widespread contagious disease epidemics and related precautions, war, civil unrest, serious accidents, strikes, employer lockouts, or other similarly significant and unusual causes.
